BlockyRenderer wiki

New page

Blocky Renderer is a regular VS Code extension. It needs no other extensions, no Blockbench and no Hytale installation. It only reads the model, animation and texture files in your workspace.

Requirements
Blocky Renderer !! VS Code
1.5.0 || 1.90 or newer (
^1.90.0
)

* The preview is drawn with WebGL inside a VS Code webview.
* Open a folder or workspace. The model browser, the model search for animations and New Blocky Model… work on the files of the workspace.
* Remote workspaces (scheme
vscode-remote
) are supported for the automatic preview, the same as local files.

Installing
From the Marketplace
# Open the Extensions view in VS Code (
Ctrl+Shift+X
).
# Search for Blocky Renderer by MutigerAffe.
# Click Install.

You can also open the Marketplace page and install it from there.

With Quick Open
Press
Ctrl+P
and run:

ext install MutigerAffe.blocky-renderer

From a .vsix file
If you have a
.vsix
file, run
code --install-extension blocky-renderer-1.5.0.vsix
or use Extensions: Install from VSIX… in the Command Palette.

After installing
The extension starts when VS Code has finished loading. It changes these things in your setup:
*
.blockymodel
and
.blockyanim
files are opened as JSON (default value of
files.associations
).
*
.blockymodel
files get a JSON schema with hover help, validation and completion. See New Models.
* A Blocky Renderer tab with a cube icon appears in the Activity Bar. See Blocky Renderer Tab.
* Opening a model or animation opens the 3D preview beside it. You can turn this off with
blockyRenderer.autoOpenPreview
. See Commands and Settings.

Updating and removing
* Updating: VS Code updates Marketplace extensions on its own. You can also update by hand in the Extensions view.
* Removing: uninstall in the Extensions view. If you set
blockyRenderer.openFilesIn
to
editor
or
viewer
, set it back to
text
first. That setting writes entries into
workbench.editorAssociations
, and they stay there otherwise. See Renderer Only.

License
Blocky Renderer is proprietary. It is free to use for private and commercial purposes. Get it only from the VS Code Marketplace or from mutigeraffe.com.
