TaskDeck wiki

New page

== Requirements ==
{| class="wikitable"
! Task Deck !! VS Code
|-
| 4.0.0 || 1.85.0 or newer (
^1.85.0
)
|}

Task Deck needs no other extensions. It shows the tasks that VS Code and your installed extensions already provide. Without a task provider for npm, Gulp or Grunt, those sources do not appear.

== Installing ==
=== From the Marketplace ===
# Open the [https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=MutigerAffe.task-deck Task Deck page on the VS Code Marketplace].
# Click '''Install'''. VS Code opens and installs the extension.

=== From inside VS Code ===
# Open the Extensions view (
Ctrl+Shift+X
).
# Search for
Task Deck
.
# Click '''Install''' on the entry by MutigerAffe.

=== With a command ===
Open Quick Open (
Ctrl+P
), paste the following line and press Enter:

ext install MutigerAffe.task-deck

== First start ==
After the installation a new icon appears in the Activity Bar. Click it to open the ''Tasks'' view. The extension starts when you open the view or run one of its commands.

On the first start in a workspace the view stays empty until VS Code has collected the task list. After that Task Deck keeps a copy of the list and shows it right away the next time. See [[TaskDeck:Task View|Task View]].

== Updating from Quick Tasks ==
Before version 4.0.0 the extension was called '''Quick Tasks''' and had a different extension id. VS Code does not update it to Task Deck by itself.
* Uninstall Quick Tasks and install Task Deck. Don't keep both installed, because they use the same command and setting ids.
* Your settings carry over. Both versions use the same
quickTasks.*
settings.
* Pinned tasks are stored per extension, so pin them again in Task Deck.

== Uninstalling ==
Uninstall Task Deck in the Extensions view. Your
quickTasks.*
settings stay in your user and workspace
settings.json
files. Delete them there if you no longer need them.
