Time Checker uses a normal Forge config file, config/timechecker.cfg. It is created on the first start.

Changing options

  • In game: open Mods in the main menu, select Time Checker and click Config. The options are grouped into General, Display and Position and appear under their config names. Changes are saved to the file and take effect as soon as you leave the screen, without a restart.
  • In the file: edit config/timechecker.cfg with a text editor while the game is closed. Changes made to the file while the game is running are only read on the next start.

The option descriptions in the config file and the in-game tooltips are in German.

Keybind

Action Default key Where to change it
Toggle Time HUD F6 Options → Controls, category Time Checker

Pressing the key switches hudEnabled and saves it to the config file right away, so the timer stays hidden or visible after a restart.

All options

General

Option Default Values What it does
hudEnabled true true, false Shows the timer. Also switched by the toggle key.
hideWithDebugScreen true true, false Hides the timer while the F3 debug screen is open.

Display

Option Default Values What it does
textColor FFFFFF hex color Text color. See Text color below.
fontStyle NORMAL NORMAL, BOLD, ITALIC Font style. Works together with any text color.
timeFormat COLON COLON, UNIT_SUFFIX COLON shows 02-14:22:36, UNIT_SUFFIX shows 02d 14h 22m 36s. See Display.
drawShadow true true, false Draws a shadow behind the text.
textScale 1.0 0.25 to 4.0 Text size. 1.0 is the normal Minecraft font size, 2.0 is twice as large.

Position

Option Default Values What it does
anchor ABOVE_HOTBAR see below The point on the screen the timer is placed at.
offsetX 0 -4096 to 4096 Moves the timer horizontally from the anchor, in GUI pixels. Positive values move it right.
offsetY 0 -4096 to 4096 Moves the timer vertically from the anchor, in GUI pixels. Positive values move it down.

Numbers outside the allowed range are set to the nearest limit.

Text color

textColor takes a hexadecimal color, with or without a # or 0x prefix:

  • RRGGBB for a solid color, for example FFFFFF (white), 55FF55 (green) or FFAA00 (orange)
  • AARRGGBB for a color with transparency, for example 80FFFFFF (half-transparent white)

If the value can't be read, the game does not crash. The text is drawn white and a warning is written to the log.

When you edit the file by hand, put nothing else on the line, not even a comment after the value. Forge reads the whole rest of the line as the value, and the color is then treated as invalid.

Position

anchor Where the timer goes
ABOVE_HOTBAR Centered, just above the hotbar and the health and armor bars
TOP_LEFT Top left corner
TOP_CENTER Top edge, centered
TOP_RIGHT Top right corner
BOTTOM_LEFT Bottom left corner
BOTTOM_RIGHT Bottom right corner

The corner and edge anchors keep a 2-pixel gap to the screen edge. The offsets are added on top, so you can push the timer out of the way of other overlays, which in GTNH already cover most screen edges.

Invalid values

A typo in the file never crashes the game:

  • An unknown fontStyle, timeFormat or anchor falls back to its default (NORMAL, COLON, ABOVE_HOTBAR). Upper and lower case don't matter.
  • An unreadable textColor falls back to white, with a warning in the log.

Example

A bold green timer in the top right corner, 10 pixels further down, with unit letters:

display {
    S:fontStyle=BOLD
    S:textColor=55FF55
    S:timeFormat=UNIT_SUFFIX
}

position {
    S:anchor=TOP_RIGHT
    I:offsetY=10
}

Only the changed lines are shown. Leave the other lines in the file as they are.
