StudioZip:Version History

There are no versions 2.x or 3.x. The version number went from 1.1.0 straight to 4.0.0.

4.0.0 (2026-10-18)

• The extension is now published as Studio ZIP by MutigerAffe. Earlier versions were called "Studio-Zip" and used the publisher fxbixn03.
• The extension id changed to MutigerAffe.studio-zip. An earlier version installed under the old id is not updated and has to be uninstalled by hand.
• Commands and the editor title now use the name "Studio ZIP".
• The license changed from GPL 3.0 or later to a proprietary license. Third-party components are listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md.

• Read and write the ZIP family (.zip, .jar, .war, .vsix, .epub and more) without unpacking.
• Studio ZIP tab with the archive tree on the left and a file preview on the right.
• zipfs: file system, so every file in an archive can be opened as a regular editor tab.
• Nested archives, such as a .jar inside a .war, can be read and written.
• Saving replaces the archive atomically and keeps compression method, modification time and the executable bit.
• Commands to mount an archive as a workspace folder and to unmount it again.
