AcidGrounds:Finding the Acid Grounds
The Acid Grounds are not a zone of their own. They appear as regions inside Zone 4, the Devastated Lands, in both of its tiers: the Cinder Wastes (Tier 4) and the Charred Woodlands (Tier 5).
Regions
- The regions are roughly round patches of about 500 blocks across, scattered through Zone 4. About half of the possible spots get a region.
- Inside a region everything belongs to the Acid Grounds. Vanilla mountains, volcanoes and other special biomes of Zone 4 do not break through.
- A region can cross the border between Tier 4 and Tier 5 and simply continues on the other side.
- Near the edge of a region (the last 64 blocks) the terrain height blends towards a common level, so the region fits in with the land around it.
- There is no on-screen title when you enter. You recognise the region by its black ground, purple swirling sky and yellow neon pillars.
Which biome appears where
Inside a region, the Acid Grounds biome follows the vanilla terrain that would have been there. Forest stays forest, wasteland stays wasteland:
| Acid Grounds biome | Takes over in Tier 4 (Cinder Wastes) | Takes over in Tier 5 (Charred Woodlands) |
|---|---|---|
| Acid Plains | grassland wastes, dunes | ash wastes, ash desert |
| Violet Forest | ghost forest | root forest |
| Toxic Forest | swamp forest | burned forest |
| Neon Fields | geyser wastes | lava wastes |
So the four biomes mix within one region, the same way the vanilla terrain below them does.
On the map
Each biome has its own map color:
| Biome | Map color |
|---|---|
| Acid Plains | #2a1438 (very dark purple)
|
| Violet Forest | #6a2a9a (purple)
|
| Toxic Forest | #2f6a1a (dark green)
|
| Neon Fields | #c8c020 (yellow)

Weather and water
The whole region has the same weather all day: the purple, swirling sky of the poison lands. Water inside the Acid Grounds is tinted purple (#5a1d8c).
Only in new terrain
The regions are part of world generation. They only appear in terrain that is generated after the mod is installed. Areas you have already explored stay as they are, so in an existing world you need to travel into unexplored parts of Zone 4.
