TaskDeck:FAQ

Where does Task Deck get its tasks from?
From VS Code. It lists the same tasks as Terminal → Run Task: the tasks from tasks.json and the tasks of all installed task providers. Task Deck does not read package.json or other build files itself.
My npm scripts or Gulp tasks are missing.
Task Deck only shows tasks that a task provider returns. Check that the extension for that tool is installed and that its task detection is turned on, for example the VS Code setting npm.autoDetect. Then click the refresh icon.
I added a script, but it does not show up.
Task Deck refreshes the list by itself only when a tasks.json file or a Task Deck setting changes. For other changes click the refresh icon in the view title.
The tasks show "loading…" and do nothing when I click them.
These entries come from the list stored at the last start. They become runnable once VS Code has collected the current list. Until then, clicking one only shows a message in the status bar. See Task View.
I don't see any source groups, only tasks.
If there is only one visible source and nothing is pinned, Task Deck lists the tasks directly. The groups come back as soon as a second source is visible or a task is pinned.
How do I hide the source when there is no source row?
Without a source row there is no eye icon. Set the source to false in quickTasks.sourceEnabled in the Settings editor. See Sources.
A source disappeared after I clicked the eye icon. How do I get it back?
Run Task Deck: Show Hidden Source… from the Command Palette, or set its entry in quickTasks.sourceEnabled back to true.
I hid a source in one project and it is still shown in another.
Hide Source saves to the workspace settings by default. Set quickTasks.sourceSaveToUser to true for that source to save its visibility to the user settings, then hide it again.
A source shows a warning triangle and "not found".
The source has stored settings but no longer delivers tasks. Right-click it and choose Remove Source Configuration to delete the settings. See Sources.
A task shows a warning triangle and "exit 1".
The last run of the task ended with that exit code. Open the terminal of the task to see what went wrong. The warning goes away once the task runs again without an error.
The number next to a source is higher than the number of tasks I see.
The number counts all tasks of the source, including the ones hidden by quickTasks.sourceInclude or quickTasks.sourceExclude.
Why does a filter pattern not match?
A pattern has to match the whole task name. Use *build* instead of build to match every task that contains "build".
Are my pinned tasks shared with my team?
No. Pins are stored in the workspace storage of your VS Code and not in settings.json. Icons, colors, filters and hidden sources are settings, so they can be shared through the workspace .vscode/settings.json.
I used Quick Tasks before. What do I have to do?
Uninstall Quick Tasks and install Task Deck. Your settings carry over, pinned tasks have to be pinned again. See Installation.
