New Ranch has three mounts you ride and three vehicles that haul cargo between loading docks on their own.

Mounts

Mount Summon item Recipe What it does
Draft Horse Draft Harness 15 Flax, 10 Wool Tuft, 8 Barn Bar (Work Bench); also sold by the Farrier Run speed 8, jump height 6. While moving it plants the crop seed you are holding into empty Fallow or Rich Soil.
Farm Tractor Tractor Keys Combine Heart, 6 Thresher Parts, 10 Furrow Bar (Mythril Anvil) Run speed 10.5. Driving fast over dirt or grass turns it into Fallow Soil.
Cloudboard Cloudboard 60 Condensed Cloud, 10 Sky Crystal Bar, 25 Sunplate Block (Skyforge) Speed 12.5, no fall damage. No flight time: it holds its height while moving fast and sinks when slow.

The Farrier moves in once a player owns a Draft Harness. For 5 gold he shoes the horse permanently: +25% speed and no fall damage while riding.

Cargo vehicles

The Horse Cart, Tractor and Trailer and Airship are not ridden. Right-click a Loading Dock to put a vehicle on a route; it then carries goods between two docks.

Vehicle Recipe Cargo Speed
Horse Cart Draft Harness, 40 Barn Plank, 12 Barn Bar, 8 Iron Bar (needs Farm Works) 8 slots Depends on road quality
Tractor and Trailer Combine Heart, 10 Thresher Parts, 18 Harrow Bar, 12 Chain (Mythril Anvil, needs Farm Works) 24 slots 3× faster than the cart
Airship Sky Chart, 20 Sky Crystal Bar, 200 Cloud, 40 Silk (Mythril Anvil) 40 slots Same speed on any terrain; slower in rain and storms

The Airshipwright moves in once the Sky Dock has been fully repaired.

Cart raids

With Cart raids on (default), a trip can be raided. The risk grows with route length and is lowered by a good road and guards; it rises at night, during invasions, Blood/Pumpkin/Frost Moons and the mod's night events, and is capped at 45%. A raid takes 35% of the cargo (less with a driver on board, less again with the tractor). Riding along prevents raids entirely. The vehicle and the draft animal are never lost.
