NewRanch:Bosses

From MutigerAffe Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

New Ranch adds 13 bosses and 7 minibosses, from the barn in the first days to the end of the game. With the Boss Checklist mod installed they appear in its list in the order below. Life, damage and defense are Normal mode values; several hardmode bosses scale their life in Expert and Master mode with their own factor.

Every boss with a treasure bag also drops a trophy (1 in 10), a mask (1 in 7) and a Master Mode relic, plus Field Notes.

Pre-Hardmode bosses

The Rat King
Summoned with a Moldy Loaf (Grain Loaf, 6 Acorns, 5 Leaves at a Work Bench); no time or place required. A ground fighter that scurries, crouches and leaps. The leap is telegraphed and does not steer. He calls up to 5 rats and gets faster below half life. Drops the Scavenger's Pouch and acorns.
The Old Crow
Summoned with a Bait Sack (20 Seeds, 15 Leaves, 3 Barn Bar), or wakes when you stand in the hall of the Crow Nest in the sky while he is undefeated. He hovers, swoops with a three-quill burst, drops quills and calls Field Crows every third swoop. Drops Old Crow's Feathers; the Crow's Eye comes from the bag. Defeating him unlocks the Eye of Cthulhu (by default), Blight Night, Murder in the Sky, the Roost Crow and the Living Scarecrow.
The Cursed Tractor
Summoned with a Rusted Key (6 Deeproot Bar, 10 Leaves at an Anvil). It revs and charges, throwing dirt clods behind it. After every third charge the engine stalls for 2 seconds with 0 defense: that is the damage window. Drops the Plowshare and Iron Bars. Unlocks the Forgotten Ranch.
Sand Pharaoh
Summoned with Pharaoh's Call (Scarab Idol, Pharaoh's Seal, 20 Ancient Sandstone at an Anvil) in the underground desert after Skeletron. He leaves if you leave the desert before his arena forms. Three phases at 66% and 33% while the sand floor rises; in the last one the ceiling collapses. Drops Tomb Gold and the Sun Khopesh.
The Storm Herald
Summoned with a Storm Call (3 Storm Shard, 10 Sunplate at the Skyforge) at sky height above a storm island, or appears by himself during sky storms. Blinks and fires bolts, then pushes you with wind, then turns into a dark cloud with lightning. Drops the Windward Charm, sometimes the Stormcaller, and Storm Shards.
The Strawman
Summoned at night with a Blight Effigy (12 Hay, 5 Wild Grain, 1 Old Crow's Feather at a Work Bench). He stays rooted, throws straw sickles and reappears nearby; below half life he calls crows. Drops the Strawman's Charm and Hay.

Hardmode and found bosses

The Swarm Mother
Summoned in Hardmode with a Harvest Sheaf (20 Wild Grain, 15 Turnip, 15 Flax, 3 Harrow Bar at a Mythril Anvil). She lunges horizontally (dodge upwards), fires shards, calls adds and eats crops within 18 tiles during the fight. Drops Chitin Plates; Swarmward from the bag. By default the mechanical bosses wait for her.
Frost Giant
Use a Glacial Shard out in the snow biome during a winter blizzard. It throws ice chunks that stay as cover, raises walls and freezes the ground.
Glacial Worm
Lives at the bottom of a glacier and finds you there. It tunnels only through ice; a stone platform is safe.
The Alpha Wolf
Summoned at night with a Bloody Haunch (Boar Haunch, 3 Bone). He has 52 defense while more than two pack wolves live, 22 otherwise, howls for wolves and heals while his wolves surround livestock. Drops Wolf Pelts, Alpha's Fang and the Pack Whistle; Alpha's Pelt from the bag. Unlocks Wolf Night.
Prismatic Guardian
Summoned in the Hallow in Hardmode with a Prismatic Call (20 Crystal Shard, 8 Lumenite Bar, 3 Prismberry at the Hallow Altar). At 66% he splits into five shards and cannot be hit; at 33% he takes a color: red needs melee, blue ranged, green magic, yellow summon (the right class deals 25% more, the wrong one 25% less). Drops Prismatic Cores, Lumenite Bars and one Prism weapon. Afterwards Prism Rain comes twice as often.
Borer Queen
Summoned with a Resin Lure after a mechanical boss. At 75%, 50% and 25% she hides in a nearby tree; hit the tree three times or use another lure to drive her out. Without trees nearby she enrages. Drops Splint Plates and the Splint Drill; Resin Seal from the bag.
The Infernal Warden
Wakes once per world when you stand in the sealed Hell Core chamber at the bottom of the Underworld. Lava geysers, a ring that fills with lava, and finally the core: he heals while nobody stands between him and it. Drops the Warden's Mantle, Core Key, Warden's Lantern and Infernium Bars.
The Ancient Sky Guardian
Wakes in the Sky Temple treasury. His shield blocks shots from the front; breaking it calls three smaller guardians. Drops the Guardian's Bulwark, Celestial Dust and Skystone.
The Raven King
Waits in the Sky Crown. Its four seals open with the Old Crow, the Swarm Mother, Skeletron and Hardmode, so in practice the crown opens with Hardmode. Fought once per world; the gate shuts behind you. Drops the Raven Crown and feathers.
The Combine
Summoned with an Ignition Key after Plantera. It never stalls on its own: throw a Hay Bale into its path to clog it for 2 seconds with 0 defense. Its intake swallows dropped items and spills them on death. Drops the Combine Heart and Thresher Parts; Intake Funnel from the bag.
The Gleaner
Summoned at dusk with a Last Sheaf after the Lunatic Cultist. Four stances (scythe, flail, pitchfork, sling). He picks up items lying near him and heals 150 life for each. Drops Gleaner's Scythe; Wreath of Ears from the bag.

Changed vanilla progression

With the world setting Vanilla bosses wait for the farm on (default), three vanilla steps are locked:

  • Eye of Cthulhu waits for The Old Crow. The Suspicious Looking Eye cannot be used and the Eye does not come on its own. Its new recipe is 6 Lens and 6 Old Crow's Feather at a Demon Altar.
  • The mechanical bosses wait for The Swarm Mother. Their summons cannot be used before, and their new recipes each need 3 Chitin Plate.
  • Wall of Flesh waits for the Vermin Board. Ten bosses each drop one Trophy Nail: King Slime, Eye of Cthulhu, the Rat King, Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu, the Old Crow, Queen Bee, the Cursed Tractor, Skeletron, Deerclops and the Strawman. Once all ten are defeated, craft the Vermin Board (10 Trophy Nails, 8 planks, Work Bench) and place it. Until then Voodoo Demons do not spawn and the Wall cannot be summoned. The Sand Pharaoh and the Storm Herald are not needed.

Other requirements are always active: Pharaoh's Call needs Skeletron, the Harvest Sheaf needs Hardmode, the Resin Lure needs a mechanical boss, the Ignition Key needs Plantera and the Last Sheaf needs the Lunatic Cultist.
