NewRanch:Research
Research unlocks most of New Ranch's farm content. Place a Research Table (8 planks and 6 Wood at a Work Bench, or bought from the Farmer) and right-click it to open The Field Book. It closes if you move more than 12 tiles away.
Each branch costs Field Notes from your inventory and needs the branch before it. Items that belong to a branch cannot be used or placed until it is learned; their tooltip says "Requires …" in red. Recipes and shop entries are locked the same way.

Field Notes
Field Notes drop from:
- farm pests (1 in 3) and undead livestock (1 in 4),
- other surface enemies, except ones from statues (1 in 12),
- the mod's bosses (several at once, more for bosses with more life),
- pests during Blight Night (an extra 1 in 4),
- many ruin chests, and the Old Farmwife's daily wish list.
