BlockFactory:Death and Respawn

The bunker corridor

Dying in Block Factory costs you a walk, not your items. Everything you carried waits for you in a Death Chest where you fell, and you wake up again in a cryo capsule.

The Death Chest

When you die, your whole inventory goes into a Death Chest at the spot where you died:

  • Hotbar, main inventory, armor and utility slots. Weapons keep their loaded ammunition.
  • Nothing drops on the ground, and items lose no durability.
  • The chest is placed on the nearest free spot within 2 blocks of where you died, preferably on solid ground.
  • If there is no free spot at all, you simply keep your items.
  • With an empty inventory, or in Creative mode, no chest is placed.
Death Chest
Mining or picking it up Not possible
Creatures and raids Cannot damage it
Map Has its own marker, which replaces Hytale's usual death marker and disappears with the chest
Disappears About two seconds after it has been emptied

Open it with Use and take your things back.

Who can open it

The chest belongs to no player. It counts as part of the world team, so the normal team rule applies (see Teams and Raids): every player without a team can open it, and in the current version members of a founded team get the message that it belongs to another team. In a world without teams, other players can empty your chest, so go back quickly.

Respawn

Where you wake up depends on whether your team has a powered Cryo Capsule:

  1. A powered Cryo Capsule of your team (the nearest one). You get the message "You wake up in a cryo capsule."
  2. Otherwise the bunker: the world spawn lies at the first cryo capsule in the bunker.

There are no beds.

Epoch 2
Size 1 × 2
Energy Electric
Power 100 kW

Health 250
Research Cryonics

The Cryo Capsule is unlocked by the research Cryonics (2 × Knowledge Scroll II). It is crafted by hand or in a Fabricator from 10 Steel Plate, 5 Glass and 5 Electronic Circuit (5 s).

  • It needs a constant 100 kW from the power grid. Without power it is iced over and does not count as a respawn point.
  • Only capsules of your own team work for you. Players without a team share the capsules of the world team.
  • Powered capsules show on your team's map in the team colour.

Radiation

If a burning or hot nuclear reactor is destroyed, it explodes: players within 12 blocks take 200 damage, and buildings nearby are damaged or destroyed. If the world setting Radiation is on (off by default, see World Settings), the explosion also leaves a radiated area with a radius of 18 blocks for 20 minutes. Players inside it take 4 damage every second.

Tips

  • Keep spare weapons and ammunition in a chest near your capsule, so you can go back armed.
  • Armor and a Shield Module help you survive the first hits; see Weapons and Armor.
  • In a fight, fall back towards your towers instead of fighting in the open.
