BlockFactory:Smelting

From MutigerAffe Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Smelting turns ore, stone, clay and sand into plates, bricks and glass. You build the Brick Furnace from the start; the faster Blast Furnace and the electric Electric Furnace come with research. All three smelt the same recipes. The Stone Golems Refinery crushes ore first, so the same ore gives more plates.

The Brick Furnace has the item ID BF_Stone_Furnace. Speed ×2 means a recipe takes half the time listed below. For noise see Enemies, for module slots Rune Modules.

How a furnace works

A furnace has one ingredient slot, one fuel slot and one output. You never choose a recipe: the furnace smelts whatever recipe fits the item in its ingredient slot. Put in Iron Ore and you get Iron Plates; put in Stone and you get Stone Bricks.

Because there is only one ingredient slot, a furnace works on one ingredient at a time. A grabber feeding an empty furnace puts in any item it can smelt; after that, only more of the same fits until the slot is empty again. Keep different ores on different furnace lines.

  • Press Use to open the furnace window. Click a product to take it, right-click any slot to take it out, and click an item in your inventory to put it in. Auto-fill puts in fuel or ingredients from your inventory, Take all takes the products.
  • Crouch and press Use with a stack in your hand to put it in (ingredients into the ingredient slot, fuel into the fuel slot). Crouch and press Use with an empty hand to take all products.

Smelting recipes

Times are at speed ×1 (Brick Furnace). The Blast Furnace and the Electric Furnace need half the time.

Product Ingredients Time Locked until
Iron Plate 1 Iron Ore 3.2 s –
Copper Plate 1 Copper Ore 3.2 s –
Stone Brick 2 Stone 3.2 s –
Brick 2 Clay 3.2 s Masonry
Glass 2 Sand 3.2 s Masonry
Steel Plate 5 Iron Plate 16 s Steel Processing
Gold Bar 1 Gold Ore 3.2 s Golemcraft
Iron Plate 1 Crushed Iron Ore 3.2 s –
Copper Plate 1 Crushed Copper Ore 3.2 s –
Gold Bar 1 Crushed Gold Ore 3.2 s Golemcraft

Until its research is done, a furnace does not accept the ingredient of a locked recipe: Clay stays out until Masonry, and Iron Plates only turn into Steel Plates after Steel Processing. See Research and Recipes.

Fuel

The Brick Furnace and the Blast Furnace burn fuel, and so do the Wooden Drill, the Coal Grabber, the SlaughterHouse and the boilers of Power. Only these items count as fuel:

Fuel Energy Burns in a furnace (90 kW)
Wood 2 MJ about 22 s
Coal 4 MJ about 44 s
Tallow 1.5 MJ about 17 s
Solid Fuel 12 MJ about 133 s

A furnace only uses energy while it smelts; energy left over from a burning item is kept for later. Tallow comes from the SlaughterHouse (Hunting and Farming), Solid Fuel from Oil Processing.

The Electric Furnace takes no fuel. It needs power from a nearby power pole, see Power.

Crushed ore: the refineries

Stone Golems Refinery Big Stone Golems Refinery
Epoch 2 4
Unlocked by Golemcraft Golemcraft 2
Size 3 × 3 5 × 5
Energy Electric, 100 kW Electric, 250 kW
Speed ×1 ×2
Rune module slots – 2
Noise 10 per minute –
Recipe 1 Golem + 20 Stone Brick + 10 Steel Plate + 5 Iron Gear 1 Stone Golems Refinery + 1 Golem Core + 20 Steel Plate + 10 Rune Slate

Both refineries run the same recipes and pick them by themselves from the ore you put in, like a furnace. They have two outputs, one for the crushed ore and one for the Stone.

Ingredients Products Time at ×1
4 Iron Ore 6 Crushed Iron Ore + 1 Stone 3.2 s
4 Copper Ore 6 Crushed Copper Ore + 1 Stone 3.2 s
4 Gold Ore 6 Crushed Gold Ore + 1 Stone 3.2 s

Crushed ore smelts like ore, one piece per plate or bar, so every 4 ore give 6 plates instead of 4, plus a Stone. The refinery is built with a Golem; see Golems.
