BlockFactory:Teams and Raids
On a server, players build together in teams. A team shares its buildings, its research and its point accounts. There are no ranks: every member may do everything. Between teams there is one hard rule: you can never open, pick up or reconfigure another team's buildings. You can only raid them, and only if the world allows it.
The world team
Until you found or join a team, you belong to the world team together with every other player who has none. Buildings placed by players without a team belong to the world team as well. A world in which nobody founds a team therefore plays like one big shared factory.
Buildings keep the team they were built by. If you found a team later, everything you built before stays with the world team, and you can no longer use it.
Managing your team
Type /team or open the Team tab of the Field Manual to open the team window. Everything in the window also works as a command:
| Action | Button in the window | Command |
|---|---|---|
| Found a team | Found | /team --create=<name>
|
| Invite a player | Invite | /team --invite=<player>
|
| Accept an invitation | Accept | /team --accept=<team>
|
| Leave your team | Leave team | /team --leave
|
| Vote to kick a member | Vote kick | /team --kick=<player>
|
| Rename the team | Rename | /team --rename=<name>
|
| Set the team colour | Apply colour | /team --color=#RRGGBB
|
- Names can be up to 24 characters long; longer names are cut off.
- Founding a team or accepting an invitation takes you out of your old team.
- Every member can invite players, rename the team, change its colour and start a kick vote. An invited player gets a chat message and accepts in the team window.
- Kicking: a member is out as soon as more than half of the other members have voted for it. In a team of two, one vote is enough.
- Leaving is possible at any time. You return to the world team and lose access to the old team's buildings and research. A team whose last member leaves keeps its buildings and becomes ownerless (see below).
- Team colour: new teams start grey-blue (#5A7FA8). The colour is used for your team's map markers.
| Shared inside the team | Kept apart between teams |
|---|---|
| All buildings its members place | Other teams cannot open, pick up, turn or change the settings of them |
| Research progress and the Gob and Gol point accounts (see Research) | Every team researches on its own |
| Blueprint library of the Goblin Planner | Blueprint files can be copied between team folders by the server operator |
| Cryo Capsules as respawn points | Another team's capsules do not work for you |
| Gates open for team members | They stay shut for everyone else |
| Map markers of Cryo Capsules and Rangertowers, and attack groups spotted by your Rangertowers | Other teams do not see them |
| Progress at the Great Portal | Each team fills its own bar |
The world itself is shared: noise and unrest count for the whole world, so a loud team wakes the nests for its neighbours too (see Enemies).
Team chat
/channel --to=team: your chat messages only reach members of your team and are marked[Team]./channel --to=all: back to the normal chat./channel: shows which channel you are writing in.
Foreign buildings
If you try to open, pick up, turn or reconfigure a building of another team, you get the message "This belongs to the team … You can only raid it."
Raids
A raid means damaging another team's buildings. Whether that is possible depends on the world settings:
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
IsPvpEnabled |
false | Without PvP no raids are possible at all |
Raids |
true | With raids off, foreign buildings cannot be damaged even with PvP on |
StartProtectionHours |
2.0 | A team cannot be raided for this many hours after it was founded |
OfflineProtection |
false | When on, a team with no member online cannot be raided |
AbandonedAfterDays |
14 | After this many days without a member online, a team's factory counts as ownerless |
How a raid works:
- Hitting a foreign building deals 10 damage, at most one hit every half second.
- TNT damages foreign buildings within 4 blocks when the rules allow a raid. TNT belongs to the team of the player who placed it and never damages that team's own buildings.
- If the rules forbid the raid, you get a message saying why: PvP is off, raids are off, the team is still under start protection, or nobody of that team is online.
- Destroyed buildings are lost; their contents drop on the ground as loot. A ghost of the building stays in its place. Goblins from a Goblin Hut in range can rebuild it, and the rebuilt building belongs to the team of the hut whose Goblin built it.
- Buildings that are not player-built (bunker, ruins, landmarks, Death Chests) cannot be damaged.
Towers and players
When PvP is on, your towers also shoot at players of other teams in range. This does not depend on the Raids setting. Towers never shoot at members of their own team. See Defense.
Ownerless factories
A team is ownerless when it has no members left, or when none of its members has been online for AbandonedAfterDays days (0 turns the time limit off). The world team is never ownerless.
- An ownerless factory stands still: its machines stop working.
- If PvP and raids are on, it can be raided even while start protection or offline protection would apply.
- As soon as a member is online again, the factory runs again.
