BetterBiomes:Howling Sands

From MutigerAffe Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The new biomes of Zone 2, the Howling Sands. The coast and Tier 1 get green and wet biomes, the deserts of Tier 2 and 3 get salt, dunes, canyons and a buried city.

Flat Mountains and Ember Spires are on Mountains. Biome IDs for /locate are on Zones Overview.

Palm Coast

Shore · BetterBiomes_Palm_Coast

Green coconut palms on white sand with hibiscus. Coconuts hang under the palm leaves. Palm logs give the Palm wood set.

Mangrove Swamp

Shore and Tier 1 · BetterBiomes_Mangrove_Swamp

Banyan trees standing on stilt roots in shallow, murky water, with mud islands, reeds, duckweed and birds of paradise. The water is green and the air foggy, with swamp sounds.

  • The swamp reaches past the beach into the savanna of Tier 1 as wide, shallow brackish water. Some swamps lie fully inland.
  • Crocodiles, flamingos, frogs and marsh snakes live here.
  • Stilt huts with a chest stand in the water.
  • The mud can be turned into mud bricks.

Golden Grove

Tier 1 · BetterBiomes_Golden_Grove

Amber trees with golden leaves in the savanna, with sunflower fields and marigolds. Amber logs give the Amber wood set.

Clay Pits

Tier 1 · BetterBiomes_Clay_Pits

A flat, sunny plain of red clay with countless small puddles, bamboo groves, reeds, orchids, tall flowers and flax. A potter's kiln sometimes stands on the clay.

Sinter Terraces

Tier 1 · BetterBiomes_Sinter_Terraces

An elongated white calcite hill, about 150 blocks across, with stepped turquoise pools on every terrace. The calcite ends with the terraces, and a pale apron surrounds the foot of the hill. A bath ruin with basins and columns can stand nearby.

Cappadocia

Tiers 1–2 · BetterBiomes_Cappadocia

A plain of pale tuff (white sandstone and beige clay) with slender fairy chimneys 10–22 blocks high. The chimneys wear dark cap stones, and the tall ones have small cave dwellings with a door and a window carved into them. Beige clay is the ingredient for tuff bricks.

Badlands

Badlands

Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Badlands

Mesas made of colored clay bands in orange, yellow, scarlet, beige and white, with red sand and rock arches. Every slope shows the bands.

  • Clay pits: round open pits with terraces, mud and puddles at the bottom and a clay heap at the edge.
  • Quarries: deeper, square pits with neatly stepped walls, stacked stone blocks and a lamp post.

All steps in both are one block high, so you can walk out without a ladder.

Oasis

Oasis

Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Oasis

A small turquoise pond, about 70 blocks across, with grass and palms in the middle of the open desert. Vanilla oases are hidden in large hollows; this one lies in the open. Camels gather here, and coconuts hang under the palm leaves.

Salt Flats

Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Salt_Flats

A bright, almost flat crust of rock salt with hexagonal cracks, salt crystals and shallow turquoise brine pools. Plateaus and dunes rise from it like islands. The air shimmers with haze, and gusts of wind blow across the flats.

Buried City

Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Buried_City · rare

An ancient sandstone city under the dunes, roughly 250 blocks across. Only wall tops, columns and towers stick out of the sand. Below lie buried streets, houses, temples, towers, courtyards with cisterns and palace halls. Get in through the towers, which are open and have ladders, or through the open courtyards. The chests in the palace hold better loot. See Structures.

Dune Sea

Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Dune_Sea

Huge, almost bare dunes whose crests rise about 40 blocks above the valleys, with bleached giant bones. Sandstorms and wind gusts sweep across the dunes. Sometimes a caravan wreck lies half buried in the sand.

Dry Wadis

Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Dry_Wadis

Winding dry valleys about 12 blocks deep with a flat floor of cracked mud, palms, reeds and leftover puddles.

Bloomspine Flats

Tier 2 · BetterBiomes_Bloomspine_Flats

Dense fields of flowering cacti with patches of red sand, red shrubs and marigolds.

Burning Desert

Burning Desert

Tier 3 · BetterBiomes_Desert_Burning

A scorched desert of ash sand with glowing cracks, small lava lakes, charred trees and red crystals. Burnt palms stand leaning, some broken off, with burnt twigs at their feet, and burnt cacti grow in the ash. Plateaus, dunes and hidden oases of the vanilla desert stay. The weather and the enemies are those of the desert.

Burnt palm logs and burnt twigs give burnt planks.

Pale Dunes

Tier 3 · BetterBiomes_Pale_Dunes

Low, snow-white gypsum dunes with patches of white crystals, and little else.
