BetterBiomes:Mountains

From MutigerAffe Wiki

Better Biomes reshapes some of the vanilla mountains and adds mountain types of its own. The mountain variants keep the vanilla mountain at their foot, so there is no step at the edge; only the peaks and the surface change.

Splinter Peaks

Zone 1, Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Splinter_Peaks

Bare, jagged ridges of stone without grass, up to about y 290, with scree on the flat spots, rock spires and snow from about y 235. Climbers' bivouacs (a tarp on three posts, a fire pit, supplies and a chest) cling to the slopes.

Firwood Slopes

Zone 1, Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Firwood_Slopes

Taller mountains up to about y 260, covered in dense fir forest up to about y 210, with snowy firs above, grass even on steeper slopes, heather and gentian. Climbers' bivouacs can be found here too.

Mist Peaks

Zone 1, Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Mist_Peaks

Steep, angular rock needles in constant fog, with bamboo at their feet and moss and grass on top. Flat, gnarled bonsai pines grow on the edges and summits, at most two per chunk. Summit pavilions with red posts, a red cloth roof and a hanging lamp stand on flat summit spots, and stone lanterns and pagodas lower down.

Flat Mountains

Flat Mountains

Zone 2, Tiers 1–2 · BetterBiomes_Mountains_Flat

Inspired by Kilimanjaro: in the middle of the area, the vanilla plateaus grow into a table mountain with a flat, snowy top at about y 230 (vanilla plateaus reach at most y 210).

  • Small summit lakes lie in hollows of the plateau, with a birch leaning over the water.
  • An old, mossy summit ruin stands on large plateaus, roughly one per mountain. A ladder leads down into a chamber below it with a chest.

Ember Spires

Zone 2, Tiers 2–3 · BetterBiomes_Ember_Spires

A plain of red sandstone with fields of needles 15–55 blocks high, red rock arches and fireweed. Geodes can appear here.

Frosty Mountains

Zone 3, Tiers 1–2 · BetterBiomes_Mountains_Frosty

In Tier 1 and 2 the vanilla mountains are still green. Inside the Frosty Mountains areas they turn into glacier mountains like those of Tier 3: snow and ice on flat spots, snowy firs, yeti camps and glacier weather. Unlike the vanilla glacier mountain, steep slopes show bare ice cliffs instead of shale, and there are more ice pillars. Only the surface changes, so the mountains keep their vanilla height.

A lost climber's camp with a chest can be found on these mountains and on the vanilla mountains of Zone 3, Tier 1 and 2.

Rime Ridges

Zone 3, Tier 3 · BetterBiomes_Rime_Ridges

Knife-edge ice ridges up to about y 312, with streaks of snow across bare ice and shale walls. Climbers' bivouacs with Zone 3 loot are tucked into the ridges.

Alpine meadows on vanilla mountains

The vanilla mountains of Zone 1 and Zone 3 get an alpine meadow band in their upper grass zone, with patches of edelweiss and gentian.
